Artist Statement
The memory of hidden femininity — “the petticoat” — as well as the questioning of the norm of the ideal standard into which the female body is expected to fit, often described through the shapes of fruits or objects, are the central axes of this body of work. I create my garden using materials that carry women’s memories: fabric from an old slip and a plastic kitchen tablecloth — a space of everyday life, a space of women’s confessions. Woman is the garden of life; her body carries seasons, silences, marks, time, and flowers that have learned to return. The landscapes of my garden, with their colors, the imprints of femininity, and their dark corners, express the female soul as it searches for its role and identity, attempting to discover her true self and her own “desires.”
