We are very happy to share that our juror Charon Kransen, founder of Charon Kransen Arts, will be joining us in person this May for the second Athens edition of the JELO6 Project.

About
While in Greece, Charon Kransen will lead a two-day seminar dedicated to artists and their very personal paths into the field of contemporary art jewelry. Drawing from his long-standing experience as a curator, educator, and supporter of both emerging and established practitioners, the seminar will focus on how individual narratives, material exploration, and critical positioning shape a sustainable and meaningful practice within the broader contemporary context.
With a particular emphasis on authorship, identity, and the evolving role of jewelry as a medium, this will be a unique opportunity for participants to engage directly with his perspective and approach.
More information, by Kransen himself:
“The core of the seminar is centered around the notion that many of us in the field, are not as successful and satisfied with their professional life as they may have imagined at one time. As artists, we often feel under-appreciated, under-rewarded, under-respected, under-recognized, under-published, under-acknowledged etc.etc.
What does it mean to be an artist? Are we makers or are we artists?
We explore the reasons why through lots of discussions and exercises, all verbal, to understand what the barriers inside are which keep us from blossoming as an artist. It is not until once we understand the deep issues, that we can start making changes.
Even before the pandemic many things have changed. The pandemic just magnified them. The market has changed. The way galleries and artists work together have changed. Some people think galleries are no longer important and they explore other ways to promote the work. How great would it be to just openly discuss these issues together and develop some more insight in the complex issues in an artist’s life.
We will also address a lot of practical aspects, such as in marketing, pr, pricing, gallery-artist relationship etc., something artists often are not so clear about.
After two days, participants will walk away with more clarity but also with more questions, yet -from experience also- with a lot of inspiration and empowerment.
