Artist Statement

Yiota’s practice is driven by an ongoing exploration of diverse materials, which she consistently shapes into — or contains within — strong, almost architectonic metal structures. Her works often develop on a monumental scale, unfolding as colorful, multilayered compositions that immediately attract attention while inviting closer and more sustained observation. Her symbols feel timeless, touching on themes of vulnerability, nourishment, protection, self-healing, and inner journeys that are never entirely dark nor entirely illuminated. Instead, her work becomes a study of the many emotional states and shifting layers of the human psyche and human experience. Ultimately, Yiota possesses a rare ability to transform the more difficult aspects of existence into the most positive states of an unclouded mind.
