Artist Statement

Anastasia Gemeliari’s practice unfolds through personal narratives shaped by lived experience, emotional transitions, and quiet resilience. There is a sense of strength in her work, balanced by sensitivity and openness — a presence that feels both grounded and vulnerable. Clay is her primary material, consistently supported and structured by metal. Through it, she creates sequences of forms that function almost like episodes or fragments of a story, each capable of standing as an autonomous event while remaining connected to a larger narrative. Her work moves between geometry and fragility, structure and emotion. Observation and reciprocity are central to her process; she remains in constant dialogue with the world around her, allowing concepts, materials, and experiences to influence one another throughout the act of making.
