Conversing With Niki Stylianou

Needles that are piercing, assembling pieces of memory together, on a -prescribed? - course through red thread traces, in a dialogue with Niki’s Stylianou neckpiece, a map made of thimbles, symbols of protection of individual’s will, of the uniqueness of each of us. A 365 needles chain -one for each day of a year- is carefully hidden inside the box and denotes the harassments women are suffering trying to follow the ‘good manners’ not complaining, being agreeable and courteous. This work is questioning: Are we any better off in our days? Are emotions still trampled on as in years before?
