JEWELRY . OBJECTS
I make performative objects that use my body as a tool for production and as an installation site. In the experimental jewelry series Devices for Filling a Void, I combine gold-plated electroformed copper and brass with flameworked glass. These sculptures literally fill the voids of the body, while also implying a psychological filling of emotional or erotic voids. The works point to ideas about women being incomplete or lacking, requiring augmentation by men, objects, dress, makeup, and adornment. These jewelry objects, which range from the miniature to human scale, are presented as an installation along with images showing how they are sited on the body when the body is absent from the objects in physical space.
