JEWELRY
Artist Statement
Diversity & Inclusion. Most people have in their minds what is considered jewelry. Anything that doesn't look like that is subject to criticism or even rejection. But times are changing and gradually, eyes and thinking are becoming a little more receptive to diversity. Inclusion, on the other hand, is a term that is seen everywhere lately. In every kind of activity, there seems to be this need not to leave someone or something out of a group, from a whole in people's lives. If it's done out of obligation, it might be annoying. But what if it's required in order to have balance? Can inclusion harmoniously match diversity in a piece of jewelry? Can mushrooms, 3D prints, resins and silver be combined in a wearable piece of jewelry?
Curriculum Vitae
Angelos Konstantakatos studied architecture in Athens. He was involved in studies and constructions of houses and shops, while at the same time he specialized in lighting studies, designing in three dimensions with 3D programs. His hobby since he was a child was tinkering. This, along with many years of experience in construction, helped him learn the secrets of many construction professions. Using this knowledge and experimenting in his workshop since 2012 when he was introduced to art jewelry, he began to combine traditional and original techniques in order to transform unconventional materials into jewelry. He believes that jewelry should be as unique as the person who enjoys it.
