Laura & Martine Feiereisen
JEWELRY
Artist Statement
The artists’ practice moves between contemporary jewelry and sculptural object, exploring body adornment as wearable art. They propose a metal corset developed from a hand-sculpted silver prototype. Scaled to the size of the torso and cast in metal, the piece exists simultaneously as a wearable object and autonomous sculpture. The work combines the strength of a knight’s armor with the softness of fabric, exploring the tension between protection and vulnerability. Historically charged with histories of control, discipline, seduction, and empowerment, the corset suggests that objects worn on the body are never neutral. Even the most intimate object becomes political because it shapes how a body appears and exists in society.
