JEWELRY

Artist Statement

Art is never truly neutral. Even when an artist intends to create something purely aesthetic—like a simple landscape or an abstract form—the work remains tethered to the social context of its creator.

This connection becomes visceral in the shadow of war. Conflict dictates the very materials we can access and the stories we are forced to tell. This becomes very clear when working with jewelry—an art form often dismissed as mere ornament, yet one that has historically served as a portable record of survival.

Whether crafted from the brass of bullet casings or hidden as a family’s last remaining asset, jewelry is a political statement of identity and endurance. It transforms the cold reality of violence into a wearable testament of the human spirit’s refusal to be erased.
