JEWELRY

Artist Statement

The work (Shared Structure) is a handmade silver necklace composed of a chain of asymmetrical links in varying shapes. Each link is unique; some retain the natural color of silver, while others have intentionally darkened surfaces. Although all links are made of the same material, they display different forms, textures, and shades. The chain does not have a fixed, predetermined clasp. Instead, the wearer can choose the point where the jewelry connects, determining its form and balance on the body. In its proposed form, the clasp is placed further inside the chain, allowing a section to hang freely toward the front. This choice transforms the jewelry from a fixed object into an evolving, open structure. Conceptually, the chain functions as a metaphor for social structures and human relationships. Each link is part of a common system but maintains its own form and individuality. Through multiple connection points and shifting forms, the work suggests that even the simplest relational structures contain choices, positions, and ways of connecting.
