Jana Machatová
JEWELRY
Artist Statement
Jana Machatová is a Slovak jewelry artist whose work explores personal and cultural memory through found objects such as photographs, newspapers, and postcards. Drawing on early 20th-century women’s craft traditions, including her Frauen Fleiss collection, she highlights the subtle yet political role of domestic creativity as a form of expression and agency.
Using materials like epoxy resin, she preserves these fragile histories, balancing permanence and delicacy with references to Art Nouveau.
She holds a PhD from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava and has exhibited internationally.
