Artist Statement

Apolitical art is an illusion.

There is no apolitical art. Every work, even the most personal, expresses the way we exist in the world. Silence in the face of social inequality is a choice. Neutrality is a stance. Every action that expresses a position on how we exist and coexist in the world is a political act.

The New Love collection speaks about love and takes a stance: the new, the exposure, the excess, and the vulnerability are political. They declare that we choose to exist together, to share the experience, to risk feeling beyond safety and control.

On the surface, love seems personal, private. It is an emotion, an intensity, a relationship between two or more people. Yet love challenges social conventions, changes our behavior and our relationships, and creates a space for coexistence and trust.

To love in your own way is an act of positioning yourself in the world. The political dimension of love manifests when you say “I love you” without fear, without rules, without guarantees. Whom do you love? When? How? Under what conditions? This choice is an act of resistance.

The New Love collection responds through clay, a material fragile before transformation, resilient after, like a new love or any new beginning. In a world of control and detachment, choosing vulnerability is a rupture, a micro-political gesture against the establishment of stability, fear, and control. The “I” becomes “we.” The experience of new love becomes collective, sensory, and experiential, reshaping relationships and coexistence.

Love is a political act.

Love is freedom.

This becomes clear in every piece of the New Love collection.
